Description
The Bureau of Mineral Resources and South Australian Department of Mines and Energy conducted a joint regional framework study of the Great Australian Bight in 1986-1987. The study involved a multichannel seismic survey, sampling, heatflow work, and reinterpretation of existing company seismic data. This folio is the principal product of that joint study, covering basins including Duntroon, Denman, Great Australian Bight, Polda Trough, and Bremer.
Use Cases
Modeling subsurface geology based on the regional framework multichannel seismic survey data
Assessing petroleum potential in the Duntroon, Denman, and Great Australian Bight Basins
Interpreting seismic data for structural and stratigraphic features in the Polda Trough and Bremer Basin
Analyzing heatflow data collected during the 1986-1987 survey work
Strengths
Data is the product of a joint study by two government organizations (BMR and SADME) in 1986-1987
Covers multiple offshore basins including Duntroon, Denman, Great Australian Bight, Polda Trough, and Bremer
Combines new seismic survey data with reinterpretation of existing company data
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
The report notes potential internal inconsistencies due to differing interpretations from two organizations
