A prominent, unburied palaeochannel of the Fitzroy River has been discovered on the continental shelf of the southern Great Barrier Reef. The data, reported by the Australian Ocean Data Network, provides new evidence for sediment transport patterns during sea-level changes. The dataset was last updated in April 2026.
