Description
A large-scale, multi-modal geospatial dataset for monitoring the brick manufacturing industry in Bangladesh. It contains approximately 200,000 files derived from 2.22 m/pixel Bing satellite imagery, covering all 64 administrative districts across a total area of 147,570 km² for the years 2019 and 2023. The dataset, created by Rashid, Sami of CCDS, provides three annotation modalities: segmentation masks, detection bounding boxes, and technology-type labels.
Use Cases
Semantic segmentation of brick kiln footprints based on pixel-level masks.
Object detection and geolocation of brickfields based on axis-aligned bounding box annotations.
Classification of brick kiln technology types (e.g., Fixed Chimney, Zigzag) based on categorical labels.
Temporal analysis of brickfield distribution and technology adoption between 2019 and 2023.
Strengths
Nationwide coverage across all 64 administrative districts of Bangladesh.
Multi-temporal snapshots for 2019 and 2023, enabling change detection.
Provides three distinct annotation modalities (segmentation, detection, classification) for the same features.
Covers a total area of 147,570 km² derived from approximately 200,000 satellite image files.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for specific model training needs.
The dataset's specific file formats and internal structure are not described.
