Description
HeiGIT provides these risk assessment indicators for Belarus aggregated at the administrative level 2 (district) to facilitate flood hazard analysis. The data integrates demographic, environmental, and infrastructure metrics derived from WorldPop, OpenStreetMap, and Google Earth Engine. It covers seven thematic areas including accessibility, facilities, and population vulnerability.
Use Cases
Assessing healthcare resilience by mapping access_pop_hospitals_30min against district population totals
Planning disaster response for vulnerable groups using children_u5 and elderly demographic counts
Quantifying infrastructure density using education_count and primary_healthcare_count for regional development analysis
Strengths
Aggregated at admin level 2 for localized district-level analysis
Includes specific travel-time metrics (30, 60, and 120 minutes) for healthcare access
Derived from validated sources including WorldPop and OpenStreetMap
Limitations
Facility counts for education and hospitals are dependent on OpenStreetMap contributor density which may vary by region
Lacks specific column definitions for the vulnerability and rural population sub-tables
Provenance
Source
HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology)
Collection Method
Aggregated from WorldPop, OpenStreetMap, and Google Earth Engine via the GAIA Pipeline
