Description
July 1981 to June 1984 data contains field surveys of bottom-dwelling marine organisms on Georges Bank. The dataset provides species abundance, distribution, and biomass information, collected via sediment samplers, bottle casts, and other methods. It was submitted by the Battelle Marine Research Laboratory with support from the Ocean Continental Shelf - Georges' Bank project.
Use Cases
Analyzing species abundance and distribution changes over the survey period.
Correlating benthic biomass with recorded environmental conditions like temperature and salinity.
Studying the spatial distribution of organisms relative to station positions and sediment characteristics.
Historical baseline analysis for Georges Bank ecosystem health assessments.
Strengths
Clear temporal coverage from July 10, 1981 to June 8, 1984.
Includes multi-faceted data: species counts, weights, and associated environmental measurements.
Detailed methodology documented, including vessel, equipment, and sampling methods.
Limitations
Exact row count, column names, and dataset size are unknown across all sources.
