Internally displaced persons (IDPs) are defined by the 1998 Guiding Principles as people forced to flee their homes due to conflict, violence, or disasters without crossing an international border. The Global Internal Displacement Database (GIDD), maintained by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, provides validated annual estimates, tracking both the year-end stock of displaced people and new displacement incidents. This dataset focuses on new displacement incidents in Bermuda, counting cases rather than individuals to account for multiple displacements.
