Coastal waters of Florida were monitored from station Indian River Lagoon - Vero Beach (IRL-VB) by Florida Atlantic University. The dataset contains oceanographic and surface meteorological data collected from 2015-10-07 to 2020-06-11 and submitted via the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA). Data are formatted in netCDF files following CF and ACDD metadata conventions.
Use Cases
- Analyze temporal trends in water quality based on oceanographic data mentioned in the description
- Model coastal meteorological processes based on surface weather data
- Validate regional oceanographic models using in-situ station observations
- Study the impact of environmental conditions on the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem
Strengths
- Data spans nearly five years from 2015-10-07 to 2020-06-11
- Follows established Climate and Forecast (CF) and ACDD metadata conventions
- Collected from a fixed in-situ moored station, ensuring consistent location
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Last updated 2020-06-11; freshness should be verified
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
