Description
Broad Ecosystem Units represent areas with similar vegetation, terrain, and bioclimate in Yukon's West-Central region, mapped at a 30-meter raster resolution. The dataset is derived from predictive modeling using sources from 1:50,000 to 1:250,000 scale and is intended for interpretations at 1:100,000 scale or smaller. It was produced by the Government of Yukon's Ecological and Landscape Classification Program.
Use Cases
Analyze spatial correlations between Broad Ecosystem Unit designations and underlying terrain type for ecological modeling.
Model vegetation community distributions across bioclimate zones using the 30-meter raster map product.
Integrate Broad Ecosystem Unit boundaries with the CanVec digital spatial framework for regional landscape planning.
Strengths
Provides a 30-meter resolution raster map for detailed visualization.
Based on predictive modeling integrating multiple data sources ranging from 1:50,000 to 1:250,000 scale.
Officially documented in the accompanying report 'Regional Ecosystems of West-Central Yukon, Part 1: Ecosystem descriptions'.
Limitations
Interpretations derived from the map are not valid for applications at scales more detailed than 1:100,000.
Boundaries and designations are subject to change with new information, but updates occur only periodically.
The dataset's specific row count, column structure, and sample size are unknown from the provided input.
