Description
Geoscience Australia, AIMS, and the Northern Territory Government collected surface sediment data in Bynoe Harbour from 2-29 May 2016. The dataset comprises total chlorin concentrations, chlorin indices, and porosity measurements for seabed sediments. This work was part of a four-year (2014-2018) program to create baseline habitat maps for marine resource management in the Darwin and Bynoe Harbour regions.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed habitat health based on chlorin concentration data mentioned in the description.
Analyzing sediment properties for marine resource management decisions referenced in the program intent.
Correlating acoustic backscatter data with ground-truthed sediment chemistry and porosity samples described as survey objectives.
Strengths
Data collected by three authoritative institutions: Geoscience Australia, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and the Northern Territory Government.
Specific temporal coverage from 2-29 May 2016 during survey SOL6432/GA4452.
Part of a defined four-year program (2014-2018) with a clear objective to create thematic habitat maps.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the single survey location of Bynoe Harbour.
