Middle to late Eocene calcareous nannofossil assemblages from four sections in the Otway Basin, southeastern Australia, were studied to deduce a sequence of biostratigraphic events. The dataset, published by the Australian Ocean Data Network, compares the sequence with its counterpart in New Zealand and correlates it with tropical planktic foraminiferal zones. It assesses diachroneity in marine sedimentation and links ingressions to changes in sea-floor spreading rates south of Australia.
