Cambodia Subnational Rainfall: Dekadal Indicators and CHIRPS Forecasts

A source of dekadal rainfall indicators for Cambodia's subnational administrative units, produced by the World Food Programme (WFP) using CHIRPS satellite imagery and CHIRPS-GEFS forecasts. It tracks 10-day precipitation totals, rolling monthly aggregations, and historical anomalies to support climate monitoring. The data is updated six times per month to transition from predictive forecasts to validated observations.

Use Cases

• Drought monitoring using the 3-month rainfall anomaly (r3q) to detect subnational moisture stress
• Agricultural cycle planning by comparing current 10-day rainfall (rfh) against long-term averages (rfh_avg)
• Hydrological modeling using 1-month rolling aggregations (r1h) to assess soil saturation levels

Strengths

• Includes 9 specific rainfall indicators including 3-month rolling anomalies
