Description
UNHCR and WFP conducted a joint assessment mission of Nigerian refugees in Cameroon's Far North region from October 7-19, 2021. The dataset contains survey data from 607 households in the Minawao settlement and 435 households in host villages, representing populations of approximately 60,000 and 57,000 refugees respectively. The assessment aimed to collect updated information on basic needs, shelter, food security, nutrition, water, sanitation, education, protection, security, common services, and livelihoods.
Use Cases
Compare dependency ratios between refugee camp and host community populations based on the assessment's findings.
Analyze food security indicators like the Food Consumption Score (FCS) and reduced Coping Strategy Index (rCSI) for different refugee groups.
Assess basic needs and livelihood conditions to inform targeted humanitarian assistance programs.
Evaluate protection, security, and education needs among Nigerian refugee households.
Strengths
Data collected from a sample of 1,042 households across two distinct settings (camp and host villages).
Assessment covers multiple critical domains including food security, nutrition, shelter, and protection.
Joint mission by two major UN agencies (UNHCR and WFP) suggests a standardized methodology.
