Two marine surveys conducted between November 2014 and January 2015 for the Cape Bank Marine Conservation Zone. The data includes 100% bathymetry and backscatter coverage, 106 video transects, 1298 still images, and 26 samples each for particle size analysis and infauna. The surveys were processed by Cefas and the data was aggregated by the Government Digital Service.
Use Cases
- Map seafloor topography and substrate types based on 100% bathymetry and backscatter coverage.
- Analyze benthic biodiversity and habitat composition based on video transects and still image samples.
- Model sediment distribution and infaunal communities based on particle size analysis and infauna samples.
Strengths
- 100% bathymetry and backscatter coverage provides complete spatial data for the survey area.
- Multimodal data includes 106 video transects and 1298 still images for biological analysis.
- Includes 26 samples each for particle size analysis and infauna, allowing for sediment and biological characterization.
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
