Description
114 high-mass X-ray binary systems cataloged by NASA HEASARC, with source names, coordinates, X-ray luminosities, and system parameters. The catalog includes literature references up to October 2005 and provides notes on individual sources. It was last updated to its 4th edition in September 2006 based on data from the CDS catalog J/A+A/455/1165.
Use Cases
Classifying X-ray binary types based on system parameters and stellar components.
Cross-referencing celestial objects using source names and coordinates.
Analyzing the distribution of X-ray luminosities across different binary system classes.
Studying the population statistics of Be/X-ray binaries versus supergiant/X-ray binaries.
Strengths
Contains 114 high-mass X-ray binary candidates.
Includes comprehensive literature references and individual source notes.
Provides system parameters and stellar parameters for the components.
Limitations
Literature references are current only up to October 2005.
Row count and column-level documentation are unknown.
Some sources are only tentatively identified as high-mass X-ray binaries.
Provenance
Source
NASA HEASARC, based on CDS catalog J/A+A/455/1165.
