Description
Delivering dekadal NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) indicators for Chad, aggregated by sub-national administrative units using NASA MODIS collection 6.1 satellite data. Produced by the World Food Programme (WFP), the data tracks vegetation health through 10-day intervals, long-term averages, and percentage anomalies. It utilizes WFP-defined administrative boundaries and includes Pcode references for humanitarian data integration.
Use Cases
Monitoring drought conditions by analyzing the viq anomaly column over time
Comparing current vegetation health against historical norms using the vim_lta field
Validating agricultural productivity models using the vim 10-day indicators
Strengths
Uses NASA MODIS collection 6.1 high-resolution satellite data
Includes Pcode references for joining with other WFP humanitarian datasets
Provides n_pixels to indicate the statistical weight of each aggregate
Limitations
Aggregated at the administrative level, which obscures granular pixel-level spatial variance
Dependent on WFP-specific administrative boundaries which may differ from official government shapes
Provenance
Source
World Food Programme (WFP) using NASA MODIS (Aqua and Terra) collection 6.1
Collection Method
Satellite sensor data aggregation

Geography
Chad
Uses WFP Pcodes for administrative units; users may need corresponding WFP shapefiles to visualize these data points on a map.
