Historical records from February 28, 2018, to September 8, 2023, contain estimated congestion for over 1,000 traffic segments across approximately 300 miles of Chicago's principal arterial streets. The Chicago Transit Authority and the City of Chicago generate these estimates by continuously analyzing GPS traces from buses, producing congestion data every 10 minutes.
Historical data is split across multiple source URLs; older records and newer records are in separate datasets. The most recent estimate for each segment is in a different, real-time dataset.
