ChroniclItaly 3.0 is an open-access digital heritage collection containing the digitized front pages of 10 Italian-language newspapers published in five U.S. states. The corpus totals 8,653 issues and 21,454,455 words, providing a nuanced view of the Italian immigrant community through mainstream, anarchic, and independent publications. It includes both raw text and processed versions enriched with named entity recognition, geo-coding, sentiment analysis, and network analysis outputs.
The dataset is derived from a larger collection (Chronicling America: 1789-1963), but this specific corpus covers a narrower time range. An interactive app (DeXTER) is available to explore the enrichment outputs.
