Description
Moored instrument data from the international CLIVAR program, including measurements from current meters, ADCPs, microcats, and thermistor chains. The British Oceanographic Data Centre acquires, quality controls, and archives these delayed-mode time series, converting data from various projects into a common NetCDF format. The assembly centre was established in 2004.
Use Cases
Analyze current meter and ADCP velocity time series to model deep-ocean circulation patterns.
Correlate microcat salinity and temperature measurements with thermistor chain data to study water column stratification.
Validate climate model outputs using delayed-mode, quality-controlled moored instrument records from international CLIVAR projects.
Process collated NetCDF time series data for spatiotemporal analysis of ocean heat content changes.
Strengths
Data undergoes formal quality control procedures by the British Oceanographic Data Centre.
International project data is converted to a standardized NetCDF format for consistency.
Limitations
Dataset size, row count, and specific temporal coverage are not specified.
Data is primarily available on request rather than through immediate online access.
Limited to delayed-mode data, excluding real-time observing system measurements.
Provenance
Source
CLIVAR Moored Instrument Data Assembly Centre at the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC).
Collection Method
Acquired, quality controlled, and archived from moored instruments deployed during international CLIVAR projects.

Geography
Global oceans, from CLIVAR-associated international projects.
Data is in delayed mode, not real-time. Current access requires a request to the data centre; online availability is planned for the future.
