Description
466–456 Ma zircon U-Pb ages and whole-rock geochemical data for amphibolites from the Nantinghe area in the Changning–Menglian suture zone, southwestern Yunnan Province, China. The dataset, authored by Yanlong Zhang and last updated in April 2026, includes geochemical affinities and metamorphic ages (445–436 Ma) used to constrain the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean.
Use Cases
Modeling Early Palaeozoic subduction initiation based on arc-related magmatism signatures
Dating continental collision events based on metamorphic zircon rim ages
Correlating tectonic evolution across suture zones using geochemical and geochronological data
Reconstructing Proto-Tethys Ocean closure timing based on protolith and metamorphic age pairs
Strengths
Includes specific zircon U-Pb ages for protolith (466–456 Ma) and metamorphism (445–436 Ma)
Provides whole-rock geochemical data including SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, TFe2O3, and rare earth element contents
Data is openly licensed under CC-BY-4.0
