Description
High-resolution CTD/STD data from the RV Alpha Helix in the Gulf of Alaska from 1986-12-15 to 1986-12-19. The data, processed to the NODC F022 standard, likely contains nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, density, and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at depth intervals as fine as 1 meter. Cruise information, position, date, time, and environmental conditions are reported for each station.
Use Cases
Analyzing vertical profiles of temperature and salinity to study water column structure.
Investigating relationships between density (sigma-t) and other measured parameters.
Using station position and time data to map oceanographic conditions during the cruise.
Examining potential dissolved oxygen or transmissivity data for insights into water quality.
Strengths
Data is processed to a recognized standard format (NODC High-Resolution CTD/STD F022).
Provides high-resolution profiles with potential depth intervals as fine as 1 meter.
Covers a specific 5-day research cruise in the Gulf of Alaska.
Limitations
Key metadata such as row count, specific column names, and license are unknown.
Data is from a single, short cruise in 1986, limiting temporal and spatial scope.
There is a conflict in the 'last updated' metadata between platforms (2026 vs. 1986).
