Jointly optimised energy system model networks aim to minimise total system costs under a 95% CO2 emissions reduction constraint compared to 1990 levels. The dataset, authored by Martha Frysztacki of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, varies spatial resolution and transmission line expansion volumes to research their impact on the optimisation process. Results indicate transmission network bottlenecks can raise system costs by up to 19%, while higher resource availability mitigates the increase by only 6.5%.
