Description
CO2 emissions from the combustion of fuel for all transport activity, excluding international marine bunkers and aviation. Data includes domestic aviation, domestic navigation, road, rail, and pipeline transport, as defined by IPCC Source/Sink Category 1 A 3. The dataset is sourced from the WDI Database Archives via the World Bank.
Use Cases
Analyze trends in road transport emissions over time to assess policy effectiveness.
Compare CO2 output between domestic aviation and rail transport sectors across countries.
Model total national transport emissions by aggregating data from road, rail, pipeline, and domestic navigation.
Estimate the contribution of unallocated autoproducers to a country's total transport emissions profile.
Strengths
Covers multiple transport modes: domestic aviation, navigation, road, rail, and pipeline.
Aligns with international standard IPCC Source/Sink Category 1 A 3 for reporting.
Limitations
Excludes emissions from international marine bunkers and international aviation, limiting global transport analysis.
Sample size, temporal coverage, and geographic scope are unspecified.
Provenance
Source
World Bank, WDI Database Archives.
Collection Method
Collected from national emissions inventories, likely following IEA methodologies.
Geography
Likely global country-level data, but specific coverage is unknown.
Emissions from 'Unallocated Autoproducers' are reported as a separate item and cannot be split by specific end-use. International transport emissions are excluded.
