Four colonies of the coral Acropora millepora were exposed to three climate scenarios and six concentrations of the herbicide diuron in a 2018 laboratory study. The dataset contains measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence, net photosynthesis, and calcification rates. This work was conducted by the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) under the NESP TWQ projects.
Use Cases
- Modeling dose-response relationships for diuron toxicity based on measured concentrations from 0 to 29 µg L-1.
- Analyzing the combined effects of ocean warming and acidification on coral photosynthesis and calcification.
- Assessing risks to coral reefs by correlating laboratory-measured physiological stress with field herbicide detection levels.
Strengths
- Experimental design includes three controlled climate scenarios with precise temperature and CO2 levels.
- Six measured diuron concentrations provide a gradient for dose-response analysis.
- Multiple physiological endpoints were measured, including chlorophyll fluorescence, oxygen production, and calcification.
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
