Description
Slavko Bogdanov of Columbia University provides cleaned, filtered, and phase-folded NICER event data for the millisecond pulsar PSR J0030+0451. The data set was used for neutron star mass-radius and dense matter equation of state inference analyses in companion papers by Miller et al. 2019, Riley et al. 2019, and Raaijmakers et al. 2019. It consists of an event file processed using HEASoft 6.251 and NICERDAS version 5.0.
Use Cases
Inferring neutron star mass-radius relations based on X-ray timing data.
Constraining the dense matter equation of state based on pulsar phase-folded event data.
Validating astrophysical data processing pipelines for NICER instrument data.
Reproducing the analyses and figures from the associated ApJ Letter and companion papers.
Strengths
Data is cleaned, filtered, and phase-folded, indicating a processed state ready for analysis.
The specific energy band (0.25-3 keV) and target pulsar (PSR J0030+0451) are explicitly defined.
Data provenance is documented, citing specific software versions (HEASoft 6.251, NICERDAS 5.0) and companion research papers.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
Provenance
Source
Columbia University / Slavko Bogdanov, via paperswithcode.
Collection Method
Observational data from the NICER instrument, processed and filtered using HEASoft and NICERDAS.
Data is provided in FITS format; users may require specific astronomical data analysis tools to work with it.
