Description
Waterline is a vector tile layer providing a customized world basemap optimized to display special areas of interest (AOIs). The AOIs, created and edited by Community Maps contributors, include landscaping features like grass, trees, and rock, and sports amenities such as tennis courts and field lines. The layer is built using the same data sources as Esri's World Topographic Map and other Esri basemaps, published by the City of Moreton Bay's Data Hub and last updated in May 2026.
Use Cases
Creating community-focused topographic maps based on the custom symbolized basemap.
Visualizing local landscaping features like grass, trees, and rock based on the described AOIs.
Mapping sports and recreational amenities such as tennis courts and baseball fields based on the layer's content.
Integrating community-sourced geographic edits into a standardized global basemap framework.
Strengths
Integrates community-sourced edits via the Community Maps contributor program.
Built on authoritative data sources shared with Esri's World Topographic Map.
Provides multiple accessible formats including GeoJSON, CSV, and KML.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic or source bias inherent to the community contribution model.
