Cruise NBP01-01 jumbo piston cores were measured on a Geotek Multisensor Track at the Antarctic Research Facility, Florida State University. Bulk density, P-wave amplitude and velocity, and magnetic susceptibility data were recorded at 1 cm intervals on whole cores. The dataset was produced by SCIOPS.
Use Cases
- Modeling bulk density from gamma-ray attenuation (GRAPE) measurements using depth and core section.
- Analyzing P-wave velocity and amplitude correlations with magnetic susceptibility and depth.
- Investigating sediment property trends across core sections and measurement intervals.
- Calibrating magnetic susceptibility readings in Bartington units against known physical standards.
Strengths
- Measurements taken at high-resolution 1 cm intervals.
- Data includes multiple physical properties: density, P-wave, and magnetic susceptibility.
Limitations
- Sample size and temporal coverage are unknown.
- Magnetic susceptibility data is provided in uncalibrated units.
