A 35-day marine survey in early 1994 used the SIMRAD EM12D multibeam sonar system aboard R.V. L'Atalante to map 200,000 square kilometers of seafloor off Tasmania. The Australian Geological Survey Organisation conducted the cruise to collect bathymetric maps, acoustic imagery, and 6-channel seismic, magnetic, and gravity profiles. Data aimed to clarify structural patterns and tectonic history related to the separation of Australia and Antarctica.
