Description
84 CTD profiles collected aboard the HDMS Lauge Koch in August 2018 across three East Greenland fjord systems. The dataset includes profiles of conductivity, temperature, depth, chlorophyll-a fluorescence, photosynthetically available radiation, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and pH, processed to 0.1-meter bins. The cruise was funded by the Danish Center for Marine Research and the EU Horizon2020 project INTAROS.
Use Cases
Modeling water column stratification and circulation patterns based on conductivity, temperature, and depth profiles.
Analyzing the impact of glacial meltwater on primary production based on chlorophyll-a fluorescence and photosynthetically available radiation data.
Studying the flux of allochthonous carbon and nutrients into fjords using dissolved oxygen and pH measurements.
Investigating the influence of inorganic particles and sediments on light availability using turbidity data.
Strengths
84 distinct CTD profiles provide a snapshot of three different fjord systems.
Data includes eight measured variables (pressure, conductivity, temperature, chlorophyll-a fluorescence, PAR, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pH).
CTD instrument was factory-calibrated before the cruise, and data were processed using a standard workflow.
Limitations
Row count and column-level documentation are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is limited to a single month (August 2018) and three specific fjord systems on Greenland's east coast.
Provenance
Source
Aarhus University, collected by Johnna M. Holding.
Collection Method
Data gathered using a Seabird SBE25 CTD instrument recording at 16 Hz, processed using Seabird standard workflow to produce 0.1 m binned profiles from downcast data.
Time Range
August 2018
Geography
Three fjord systems on the east coast of Greenland.
