Description
University of Washington - Seattle submitted current meter, dewpoint, and temperature profile data collected in the Beaufort Sea from April 10 to April 20, 1975. The data were gathered as part of the Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment (AIDJEX) project using current meters and acoustic sensors. The dataset is hosted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce.
Use Cases
Modeling Arctic sea ice dynamics based on current meter data mentioned in the description
Analyzing short-term temperature and dewpoint profiles in the Beaufort Sea
Validating oceanographic models for the Arctic region using instrument-collected data
Strengths
Data collected during a focused 11-day period from April 10 to April 20, 1975
Submitted by a known academic institution, University of Washington - Seattle
Part of a specific, named research project (Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment)
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Data is from a single, short time period in 1975, limiting temporal analysis
