Description
The Betoota No. 1 well was drilled to a total depth of 9,824 feet between December 1959 and April 1960. Delhi Australian Petroleum Ltd, Frome-Broken Hill Company Pty Ltd, and Santos Limited conducted a comprehensive program of electric and mud logging, testing, and coring. The operation established 5,757 feet of Mesozoic strata overlying 4,067 feet of probable Palaeozoic sediments.
Use Cases
Analyze hydrocarbon potential based on detected hydrocarbon showings between 4,400 and 5,757 feet.
Evaluate porosity zones based on water-bearing zones encountered from 3,450 to 5,757 feet.
Study stratigraphic composition based on the presence of Mesozoic and Palaeozoic sediments.
Identify potential source rocks based on marine and brackishwater shales found between specific depths.
Strengths
Detailed operational timeline: drilling commenced on 22nd December 1959 and completed on 18th April 1960.
Specific depth measurements: total depth of 9,824 feet with strata thicknesses precisely recorded.
Comprehensive data collection program: electric and mud logging, testing, and coring were performed.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to a single historical well.
