Description
D.F.S. No. 1 Betoota well data was drilled by Delhi Australian Petroleum Ltd, Frome-Broken Hill Company Pty Ltd, and Santos Limited in far southwest Queensland. The well reached a total depth of 9,824 feet between December 1959 and April 1960, recording stratigraphic and hydrocarbon data. The dataset is provided by the Australian Ocean Data Network via data_gov_au.
Use Cases
Analyze Mesozoic and Palaeozoic stratigraphy based on the described 5,757 feet and 4,067 feet sediment layers.
Evaluate hydrocarbon potential based on described showings detected between 4,400 and 5,757 feet.
Study porosity and water-bearing zones based on intervals from 3,450 to 5,757 feet mentioned in the description.
Identify potential source rocks based on described marine and brackishwater shales between 1,350-3,245 feet and 5,000-5,757 feet.
Strengths
Detailed operational record including specific drilling dates (22 Dec 1959 - 18 Apr 1960) and total depth (9,824 feet).
Comprehensive logging program described, including electric and mud logging, testing, and coring.
Specific stratigraphic measurements are provided, such as 5,757 feet of Mesozoic strata overlying 4,067 feet of probable Palaeozoic sediments.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data files are in PDF and HTML formats, which may require extraction for computational analysis.
