Description
COVADIS data standard provides specifications for storing geographical data from French Risk Prevention Plans (PPRs). The dataset for the Arrenthon PPR, approved on 19/11/2001, contains regulatory zoning, hazard intensity maps, and identified issues for the Haute-Savoie area. The standard is managed by the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (BRGM) for use across ministries responsible for agriculture, ecology, and sustainable development.
Use Cases
Delineating regulated land-use zones based on the described regulatory mapping for hazard exposure.
Modeling flood or avalanche risk based on the hazard intensity levels documented in the plan.
Identifying critical infrastructure and assets based on the maps of issues annexed to the plan.
Standardizing the storage and exchange of PPR geographical data across different government departments.
Strengths
Based on a standardized national data model (COVADIS) for risk prevention plans.
Contains three defined categories of information: regulatory zoning, hazard maps, and identified issues.
Approved by a prefectural decree on a specific date (19/11/2001).
