Southern boreal forests in Finland contain data for 741 individual Scots pine trees from 9 sample plots with different thinning treatments. The dataset, created by Ninni Saarinen at the University of Helsinki, provides information needed to generate a box dimension metric for assessing structural complexity from terrestrial laser scanning point clouds. It can be used to characterize tree structure and assess the effects of thinning treatments.
Users must keep the designated corresponding author informed of plans to use the data, and collaboration with the original investigators is strongly encouraged.
