Description
Taiga Kobayashi's 2026 figshare repository contains behavioral data from a study on self-referential metacognition in cleaner fish (Labroides dimidiatus). The dataset includes measures of aggressive approaches, parallel swimming, and alternation behavior under different mirror deprivation treatments. All analyses, including linear mixed models and reliability checks, can be reproduced with the provided R script.
Use Cases
Analyzing aggressive behavior towards stimulus photographs based on treatment conditions.
Studying parallel swimming at a mirror as a measure of self-inspection.
Examining alternation patterns between a photograph and a mirror to assess information-seeking behavior.
Testing the reliability of behavioral scoring using blind-scoring reliability data.
Reproducing statistical analyses, including linear mixed models and ANOVA, using the provided R script.
Strengths
Includes a complete R script ('analysis.R') to reproduce all statistical analyses.
Contains blind-scoring reliability data to validate behavioral measurements.
Dataset is structured with individual identity and treatment information for controlled analysis.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is very small (25.6 KB), indicating a limited scope likely from a single controlled experiment.
