Experimental data from a growth chamber study assessing the impact of precipitation frequency on carbon dioxide exchange and water balance for three Sphagnum moss species. The dataset was generated by Jelmer Nijp of Wageningen University & Research to investigate how precipitation can moderate drought impacts on peatland carbon stores. It includes measurements from intact peat cores representing three distinct peatland microhabitats: hollow, lawn, and hummock.
