A 2016 systematic review analyzed 36 cohort studies involving 2,812 patients to evaluate the prognostic value of serum protein biomarkers for post-concussion symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury. The review, conducted by Eric Mercier, extracted data on patient characteristics, exclusion criteria, and outcome measures from studies published up to October 2016. The pooled mean age of included patients was 39.3 years, and follow-up periods ranged from 7 days to 5 years.
