High-throughput sequencing data from Daphnia magna investigates the rate of loss of heterozygosity during asexual reproduction. Marinela Dukić from the University of Basel used Restriction site Associated DNA sequencing to compare parthenogenetic daughters with their mothers at several thousand genetic markers. The study concluded that LOH does not occur frequently in D. magna, suggesting clonal lineages remain genetically homogeneous over typical experimental timeframes.
