A coastal chinook salmon population was studied to evaluate the heritable variation underlying thermal tolerance. The data originates from a full-factorial breeding design measuring offspring cardiac function and critical thermal maximum (CTmax). Maternal effects, associated with egg size, were found to significantly influence resting heart rate, scope for heart rate, cardiac arrhythmia temperature, and CTmax.
