Data from an optogenetic study explores the behavioral relevance of timing in the olfactory system. Mice were trained to discriminate virtual odors differing by as little as 13 ms, based on sniff-triggered, dynamic stimulation of mitral/tufted cells. The dataset supports analysis of high transient information transmission rates in olfaction.
