Description
2026 research data supporting an article on eddy current effects for magnetic dipoles in arbitrary motion. The repository contains raw data, MATLAB scripts, and COMSOL simulation files for three modeled cases: conductive magnets, a magnet above a plate, and a submerged magnet. The data, authored by Frederik Laust Durhuus and released under CC-BY-4.0, is 16.9 MB in size and includes PDFs, GIF animations, and .mph simulation scripts.
Use Cases
Validate analytical models of electromagnetic forces based on the provided COMSOL simulation data
Reproduce visualizations of dipole motion and current density using the included MATLAB scripts and raw .txt data
Study the range of validity for eddy current models using the error versus frequency comparisons
Analyze torque and force dynamics on magnets near conductive materials from the described three case scenarios
Strengths
Includes raw data files (.txt) and plotting scripts (.m) for full reproducibility
Contains COMSOL simulation files (.mph) for model validation, though solutions are not pre-computed
Provides visual validation through PDF result files and GIF animations of simulations
Limitations
Row count and column-level documentation are unknown, requiring manual inspection after download
The COMSOL simulation scripts do not contain converged solutions, requiring computational resources to run
Description metadata is limited; actual data structure and quality must be assessed post-download
