A novel Phytopythium species, designated P. shangluoense, was isolated from Salvia miltiorrhiza plants in China's Shangluo region. Molecular identification used four gene regions, and pathogenicity assays showed 100% seedling disease incidence within three days at 13–28°C. The study also validated genus-specific primers and demonstrated 80% biocontrol efficacy using Streptomyces fungicidicus strain FYA1.
