Description
1,774 nasopharyngeal samples from patients with severe acute respiratory infections and influenza-like illness were collected across five sentinel sites in Yaoundé, Cameroon, between July 2020 and December 2022. The dataset was created by Moise Henri Moumbeket-Yifomnjou to compare ARIMA and Holt-Winter's additive models for describing HRSV activity, with 8.5% of samples testing positive for the virus.
Use Cases
Compare time-series forecasting model performance (ARIMA vs. Holt-Winter's) based on the described model evaluation metrics.
Analyze the relationship between HRSV activity and meteorological factors like temperature and humidity based on the climate variables mentioned.
Benchmark predictive models for respiratory virus outbreaks based on the 3-year retrospective study data from Cameroon.
Strengths
Dataset is based on 1,774 clinical samples collected over a 3-year period (July 2020–December 2022).
Model performance is quantified with specific metrics, including a stationary R² of 77.6% for the Holt-Winter's model.
Data collection is described as occurring across five sentinel sites in Yaoundé, suggesting a structured surveillance effort.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset's 351.1 KB size indicates a very limited scope, likely containing summary or model data rather than raw records.
