Description
A controlled greenhouse experiment by Abdelghafar M. Abu-Elsaoud measured the effect of three CO2 concentrations on two C3 and one C4 plant species. The dataset, last updated in May 2026, includes measurements of plant height, leaf number, biomass, chlorophyll content, and relative leaf nitrogen index. Findings demonstrate species-specific growth and physiological responses to high CO2 enrichment.
Use Cases
Modeling species-specific growth responses to elevated CO2 based on measured physiological parameters.
Comparing the photosynthetic efficiency of C3 versus C4 plants under high CO2 conditions described in the study.
Analyzing the correlation between CO2 concentration and metrics like total biomass and chlorophyll content.
Training models to predict plant performance in future atmospheric conditions based on experimental growth data.
Strengths
Data originates from a controlled greenhouse experiment with three specific CO2 treatment levels (~400, ~2,900, and ~5,400 ppm).
Includes measurements for multiple growth and physiological variables across three distinct plant species.
Dataset is openly licensed under CC-BY-4.0, facilitating reuse and sharing.
Limitations
The dataset is stored in a PDF format (1.4 MB), which may require extraction to access structured data.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale analysis.
