Description
A document review from 2026 describes and appraises 10 novel health interventions implemented under the United States Government-funded RISE initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana. The appraisal uses a mixed-methods design and maps projects to six health system building blocks: sustainable health financing, service provision, health management and leadership, products and logistics, information systems and data integration, and human resources. Use Cases
Evaluate the impact of specific health interventions like Test-2-Treat (T2T) on COVID-19 case management based on the description of providing medication to 79% of confirmed cases.
Assess the integration of pandemic response into routine health systems based on the reported successful integration of COVID-19 immunization achieving 93.2% coverage.
Analyze improvements in health system logistics based on the described oxygen interventions (LOX/PSA systems) that reduced travel distances for peripheral facilities by 12.1% to 69.7%.
Study data quality and reporting institutionalization based on the mention of data quality audits and the adoption of standardized, real-time reporting.
Strengths
Includes specific quantitative outcomes, such as 93.2% COVID-19 immunization coverage attainment and 79% of confirmed cases receiving medication under the T2T project.
Appraises a defined set of 10 projects using a structured, mixed-methods approach based on six health system building blocks.
Provides concrete metrics for logistical improvements, such as reducing travel distances for oxygen procurement by 12.1% to 69.7%.
