CYP2D6 Phenotype Associations with Post-Surgical Opioid Use and Pain

A secondary analysis from the ADOPT PGx Acute Pain Trial (NCT05966129) evaluated associations between predicted CYP2D6 metabolizer status and postoperative outcomes. The cohort primarily underwent orthopedic procedures, with 88%–100% of patients receiving multimodal analgesia. Results showed no significant association between CYP2D6 phenotype and opioid consumption or pain intensity for hydrocodone, oxycodone, or tramadol.
