110 patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia due to Alzheimer's disease were evaluated for oral hygiene, periodontitis status, and levels of gingipain and neuropathological biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid. The study found periodontitis was more prevalent and severe in patients with dementia and that gingipain K levels correlated with Alzheimer's pathology. The dataset is a research document authored by Jing-hui Li and last updated in April 2026.
