Description
35 culturable gut bacterial isolates were characterized from resistant and susceptible Stegomyia aegypti (Aedes aegypti) populations in Puducherry, India. Mahima K Mani authored this research, published on figshare in April 2026, which links higher microbial diversity and load to confirmed insecticide resistance. The study includes data on bacterial taxonomy, antibiotic treatment effects on mortality, and in vitro degradation assays.
Use Cases
Modeling the association between gut bacterial diversity and insecticide resistance based on isolate counts and taxonomic profiles.
Analyzing the impact of antibiotic-mediated microbiota suppression on mosquito mortality rates following insecticide exposure.
Investigating bacterial taxa like Bacillota and Pseudomonadota for their potential role in alpha-cypermethrin degradation.
Comparing microbial community structures between resistant and susceptible mosquito populations from field collections.
Strengths
Includes 35 identified bacterial isolates from resistant (26) and susceptible (9) mosquitoes.
Reports specific mortality increases after antibiotic treatment (e.g., vancomycin 97%).
Provides geographic specificity (three locations in Puducherry, India).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is presented in a PDF (453.2 KB), limiting direct computational analysis.
