Description
RNA sequencing data from male and female mouse livers, comprising wild-type, GHR-deficient (Laron), and AAV-HLP-mGHR-treated groups. The dataset, authored by Joshua K. Tay and last updated in May 2026, includes expression changes for 448 genes following treatment and 2781 genes altered in GHR-deficient mice. It is a small dataset of 390.7 KB, shared under a CC-BY-4.0 license on figshare.
Use Cases
Analyzing differential gene expression in response to liver-specific GH receptor gene therapy based on the 448 significantly changed genes.
Investigating sex-biased gene regulation in the liver based on the enrichment for sex-biased genes mentioned in the description.
Studying the partial restoration of IGF signaling pathways based on the reported ~16-fold induction of Igf1 and Igfals genes.
Identifying potential oncogenic side effects of constitutive promoter-driven therapy based on the upregulation of proto-oncogenes like Ascl1 and Tmprss4.
Strengths
Includes data from four distinct experimental groups (wild-type, Laron, treatment, and vector control), enabling comparative analysis.
Reports specific, quantified gene expression changes, such as a ~16-fold induction of Igf1 and Igfals and 448 significantly altered genes in the treatment group.
Explicitly controls for vector effects, with only four genes differentially expressed in the luciferase control group.
Limitations
Row count and column-level documentation are absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is very small (390.7 KB), indicating limited scope, likely containing summary results rather than raw sequencing reads.
Data may reflect bias inherent to the specific mouse model and experimental conditions used.
