Human-associated NDM-5 E. coli in Hungarian Retail Meat, 2021

Three multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli isolates from retail beef and pork in Hungary were characterized in 2021. The isolates belonged to the human-associated uropathogenic clone ST405 and carried the bla_NDM-5 gene on conjugative IncFII-IncFIB hybrid plasmids. This genomic data supports analysis of antimicrobial resistance transmission from food animals to humans.
