Description
35 mother-infant dyads from the OBESO cohort in Mexico City were studied to explore links between maternal obesity, placental dopamine, and infant neurodevelopment. Placental dopamine concentrations were quantified by ELISA, and expression of dopaminergic components like TH, COMT, VMAT2, DAT, and DRD2 was analyzed via Western blot. The study found reduced placental dopamine and altered expression of COMT, DAT, and VMAT2 associated with maternal obesity and altered infant Bayley-III scores.
